■ Reception with the 12th Earl of Elgin's Family
On the 10th of December, Consul
General Tarahara invited the 12th Earl of Elgin, Countess of Elgin, Lord Charles
Bruce and his wife Lady Alice Bruce, his sister Lady Georgeana Bruce.
The 12th Earl of Elgin is a descendant of Scotland's National Hero the king
Robert The Bruce.

the Emperor's Birthday Reception at the Merchant Hall on 6th Dec, and about 250
guests attended.

■ Conferment ceremony of the decoration of Mr George Kerr, President of British Judo Association(Jan 14th 2011 )
Following the announcement of by
the Japanese government on the 3rd of November, Consul General Tarahara held a
conferment ceremony at his residence to award Mr George Kerr, President of
British Judo Association, the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette.
The award is in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the promotion of
judo and exchange and understanding between Japan and the UK. Mr George Kerr
holds judo’s highest rank, the 10th Dan( only 7 other people in the world have
achieved this).
The ceremony was reported by newspapers in Scotland and Sky TV.
