■ Enjoy JAPAN at Fringe 2016!
The Edinburgh Festival, one of the biggest festivals of performing arts in the world, kicked off on 5 August. It is impossible to see all the shows. There are simply too many. So, you may want to know where to start. Then, why not consider the following two performing artists, who made a courtesy call on Consul General Mr Matsunaga on the 9th and 10th of August respectively:
(1) “Japan’s Elegant Breeze” will play Japanese and Scottish traditional music pieces with Koto (a horizontal harp), Shamisen (a string instrument), and Syakuhachi (a bamboo flute), all of which are traditional Japanese instruments;
(2) “Katsura Sunshine” will perform Rakugo, the traditional Japanese ‘sit-down’ comedy with 400-year history. He trained under a famous Japanese Rakugo master and became a master of laughter himself.
If you have not decided which performance to attend, why don’t you have a look at those talented artists to begin with?
