Enjoy JAPAN at Fringe 2016! Part 2

We would like to introduce two more artists performing at the Edinburgh Fringe who made a courtesy call on Deputy Consul General Mrs Ishigami on 15 August:

(1) “WOOONTA TRIO” is a music group based in Taiwan whose show “Taiwan Season: The Sound of Taiwan” has started from 7 August every evening. Ryohei “YO” Kanemitsu, a Japanese member of the group, fell in love with Sitar (a plucked stringed instrument from India) and flew to India to become its master. Later on, he met a Taiwanese Erhu (two-stringed bowed musical instrument) player and a French Cello player, with whom the group has been created. Those stringed musical instruments come from the same roots of the Silk Road, and you will get to experience their reunited harmonies at 2016’s Fringe festival.

(2) Kensaku Sato from the show “ONE - The Man Chosen By the Spirit of the Japanese Drum” is a Taiko (Japanese drum) performer, whose sounds is an essential part for Japanese festivals. Within his limited schedule, he has already travelled to Glasgow to give the local Taiko performing group Mugenkyo a workshop on the fundamental techniques of Japanese drums. This year, you can watch such techniques that are passed down for generations from the ancient time in Japan, but please be noted that it’ll be on only for 10 days starting from 18 August.

The festival is already a half-way toward the end. If you are still struggling to decide which show to go for, maybe you could have a look at those incredible artists?
