■Music Concert by Japanese pipe-organ, koto and shakuhachi artists On 11th, 12th and 14th October, music concerts entitled “Fascinating Melodies of Japanese Culture by Pipe organ, Koto and Shakuhachi” will be held in three different venues in Scotland. The series of concerts is intended to promote Japan-Scotland cultural exchange through music. In June 2016, “The 26th International Organ Festival in Japan” was held in Tokyo, Yokohama and Sendai, and Mr Simon Niemiński, Principal organist and music director of St Mary’s Roman Catholic Cathedral in Edinburgh, played various Scottish organ pieces including the famous Scottish traditional folk song ‘Auld Lang Syne’. This time, pipe-organist Ms Mari Kodama, koto player Ms Toshiko Suda, and shakuhachi player Mr Yoichi Iwahashi will play Japanese music in St Andrews, Glasgow, and Edinburgh.
