Pre-departure reception for winner of The Japan Society of Scotland's Glover Scholarship

On June 25th, a reception was held at the Consul General's residence to mark Caroline Marshall's departure for Japan as the winner of the 2015 Thomas Blake Glover Aberdeen Asset Scholarship. A third year student from The University of Edinburgh's School of Law, Caroline will study in Japan from July to September.

The scholarship's namesake, Aberdonian Thomas Blake Glover, played an important role in Japan's modernization, and the scholarship was set up by The Japan Society of Scotland to offer young people in Scotland the chance to learn more about Japanese culture and business, and further the development of Japanese-Scottish relations.

Professor Picken (Chair of The Japan Society of Scotland), Japan Society council members, Caroline's family, and  representatives of  the University of Edinburgh, the Scottish government, and scholarship sponsors Aberdeen Asset Management gathered to wish Caroline a fulfilling stay in Japan, mingle, and enjoy what proved to be a thoroughly pleasant evening.
