Mitsubishi Electric ‘Pump-It-UP’ award ceremony – Report

Letter from Consul General

An award ceremony for ‘Pump-It-Up’ challenge was held in the evening of Monday 13 June in Livingston, West Lothian. Organised by West Lothian Chamber of Commerce, Mitsubishi Electric ‘Pump-It-Up’ challenge is for secondary school pupils to compete with their ideas on how could the heat pump be applied to our real world and everyday life. Having witnessed all the secondary school finalists putting their heads together and delivering their ideas at their best, it was difficult not to cheer them out loud.

This event has been highly regarded by the Scottish government as it bridges local schools and commercial enterprises and stimulates the interests of youth towards technology. Such interests from the authorities was indeed highlighted by having the guests on the day, Provost Tom Kerr, Ms Fiona Hyslop MSP, Ms Angela Constance MSP and Ms Hannah Bardell MP, who came along to honour pupils’ hard work.
