Notes for visitors to the consulate

The Consulate General of Japan in Edinburgh does not have dedicated parking spaces. The parking spaces around the consulate are all pay-and-display; please be aware that failure to display a parking ticket is a parking violation. We recommend using public transport when you visit the consulate following the guidelines of the Scottish government (e.g. mandatory face masks). 

Please note that, for public safety reasons, all visitors to the Consulate General of Japan in Edinburgh are required to bring with them some form of photographic identification (such as a passport or a driving licence) and may be required to have their belongings scanned by our security equipment. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

To ensure safety of visitors and staff of the Consulate, there will be the following new measures in place as of 1 July 2020:

1. You will be asked to use hand sanitiser when you enter the premises.
2. We will take your body temperature, using a thermography camera.
3. If you have a body temperature of 37.8C or higher and/or you are feeling unwell, we may ask you to leave.
