On 31th of August Consul General Matsunaga received a courtesy call from Professor Sugiyama, Assistant Professor Tanaka and Dr Victor from the PhD Professional Promotion Office of Nagoya University.
This office was established in 2012 for the purpose of developing the talents of PhD students (postdoctorates) in highly specialized areas. The participants in the programme are put through training in presentation styles, story-telling and body language usage to help them become successful in international business and academic settings.
The overseas training for furthering these skills started three years ago. This year 10 graduate students visited the University of Edinburgh for 3 days to improve their communication style and were tasked with conveying their advanced research in an easy-to-understand presentation to non-experts.
On 1st September Consul General Matsunaga attended their final speech day and had the opportunity to see and hear their newly crafted presentations and to give feedback on their training achievements. The trainees demonstrated their research with ingenuity and flair and helped even non-experts to better understand their projects. |
