Address from Consul General Takaoka: Wagyu Seminar
2019/3/7
Good Afternoon.
Lords, MSP’s, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Thank you all very much for taking the time to come to today’s Wagyu seminar provided by ZEN NOH.
I’m very grateful to be joined by so many award-winning chefs, I would especially like to thank members from The Kitchin and 21212 for taking time away from their Michelin Star restaurants to join us for today’s seminar.
Today is a great opportunity to learn more about how Japanese Wagyu beef has earned its reputation as a world-class luxury ingredient, the best methods of preparation, and of course most importantly the opportunity to taste it for yourself.
In today’s uncertain times, I believe the economic and Cultural ties that link the UK and Japan are now more important than ever. It is no surprise that our historic bond with one another has influenced our culinary experiences. Japan’s taste for Scottish food and Beverage exports continue to grow. The Japan Seafood Expo in Tokyo last year saw seven companies attending from Scotland. Likewise here in UK, authentic Japanese cuisine is tremendously popular; with award winning restaurants and Japanese cookery schools growing in numbers.
Hopefully today’s seminar will spark an interest in how you can incorporate Japanese Wagyu Beef into your own menus in new and creative ways and we can continue to foster fostering the warm friendship between Japan and the UK through our mutual love of great food.
Thank you all once again.
