Report on the Japan Event held in Orkney
2017/5/25
From the 3rd to the 6th of May, a four-day event was held in Orkney, in the northeast of Scotland, celebrating the Japanese Children's Day festival.
The event was organized by "Team Orkney", which is made up of members who have connections with Japan. On the 6th, the final day, the audience was treated to a magnificent shamisen (a traditional three-stringed instrument) performance by the Japanese Tsugaru shamisen musicians group "Hibiki", who had been invited to Orkney.
As many as 1,000 people enjoyed the Japanese culture days, taking part in activities such as origami and trying on kimono and other Japanese clothes while enjoying the musical performance.
