Notes for visitors to the consulate
The Consulate General of Japan in Edinburgh does not have dedicated parking spaces. The parking spaces around the consulate are all pay-and-display; please be aware that failure to display a parking ticket is a parking violation. We recommend using public transport when you visit the consulate.
Please note that, for public safety reasons, all visitors to the Consulate General of Japan in Edinburgh are required to bring with them some form of photographic identification (such as a passport or a driving licence) and may be required to have their belongings scanned by our security equipment. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
From Waverley Station:
Walk towards the West End of Princes Street. You will see the Fraser's department store on the right at the end of Princes Street. There are three roads: turn right on to Queensferry Street. Carry on until you reach Melville Street, the third street on the left. Continue along Melville Street until you get to the statue in the centre of the road. The surrounding buildings are Melville Crescent.
From Haymarket Station:
Upon exiting the station, turn right and walk along Clifton Terrace. Take the third street on the left (Manor Place). Carry on along Manor Place and then take the second street on the right, which is Melville Street. Continue along Melville Street until you get to the statue in the centre of the road. The surrounding buildings are Melville Crescent.
