Clinical placement agreement signed between Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine and the University of Edinburgh Medical School
2018/6/27

On Tuesday the 26th of June, an agreement was signed between the Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine and the University of Edinburgh Medical School concerning the exchange of students.
The President of the Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine, Hiroshi Takenaka, and his staff members paid a courtesy call on Consul General Matsunaga.
This agreement not only allows students from both institutions to attend lectures on each other’s campuses, but also enables fifth-year students at the Kyoto University to conduct clinical training at hospitals in Edinburgh for several weeks. Likewise, for sixth-year students at the University of Edinburgh Medical School will receive similar training at hospitals in Kyoto prefecture.
A common challenge facing both Japan and Scotland is a shortage of clinicians. This collaborative effort hopes to counter this issue through enhanced training of its future clinicians.
