Report on the pre-departure orientation and reception for the 32nd year of new JETs

On Friday 13th July, a pre-departure orientation and reception for the 32nd year of new JETs was hold in Edinburgh. During Friday daytime on this year’s new JETs, prior to their departure, were able to receive essential information regarding their departure, English teaching method suggestions, as well as lectures in Japanese. Following the orientation, the new JETs were given a warm welcome by the Consul General, members of the Japan Society of Scotland and the Scottish JETAA committee at the Consul General’s residence. By being able to hear just a handful of the countless experiences from the JET alumni, as well as plenty of advice from representatives from Japanese companies, the new JETs are looking forward to living in Japan even more.
The JET programme: A programme launched in 1987 that aims to invite young people from abroad to Japan to participate in foreign language education and international exchange at a local level. JET stands for the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme.
