Opening Ceremony at Broughton House(July 17th)

2019/9/5
On the 17th July, Consul General Nozomu Takaoka attended a commemorative ceremony at Broughton House for the newly opened exhibition, and made a congratulatory speech.

The new exhibition is dedicated to the prominent Scottish Impressionist painter, E. A. Hornel, widely known for his fascination with Japan. Broughton House was formerly the home and art studio of the artist, who bought this house during the height of his success. In addition to some of Hornel’s paintings, the exhibition contains a collection of artworks collected and photographs taken during his yearlong stay in Japan in 1839.
