Franco –Scottish Encounters with Japan lecture in Glasgow

On the 17th September, as part of the Japan-UK Season of Culture in collaboration with the University of Glasgow, the Alliance française de Glasgow held a day of lectures on the connections between France, Scotland, Japan and the arts.
Following a short speech from the Consul General, Glasgow-born writer Professor Alan Spence shared a talk on the relationship between Japan and his own works. In Dr Ramona Fotiade’s presentation she reflected on the historic connections with Japan found within renowned Scottish architect, Charles Renee Macintosh’s works. Lastly, Dr Saeko Yazaki and Dr Olivier Salazar-Ferrer shared their reflections on travel writer Nicolas Bouvier’s connection with Japan.
