Address from Consul General Takaoka: The Scotland Loves Anime 2019 film festival

2019/11/21
Hello Everyone,

With this movie set to be the hottest piece of animation to come out of Japan this year, it’s no wonder it is officially featured by the Japanese Fire and Disaster Management Agency in its recruitment activities of firefighters.

And congratulations to Mr. Hiroyuki Imanishi, Mr. Hiromi Wakabayashi and Mr. Shigeto Koyama and all the staff, for being nominated to the Animated Feature Film category for the 92nd Academy Awards just four days before. I understand that as many as thirty-two features have been submitted for consideration, so good luck.

My appreciation also goes out to Studio Trigger and Toho for Flying all the way from Japan, Anime Limited and The Skinny for their support as this year’s official festival sponsors, Experience12, for creating the backdrop for tonight’s special screening.

And of course I would also like to commend the engine of the entire event, Festival Director and creator of Scotland Loves Anime, Mr. Andrew Partridge, his staff and all the volunteers for catering to the enthusiastic cinema lovers here in Edinburgh and Glasgow and continuing this tradition for as long as ten years. This season will feature a total of 10 UK premiers and 2 EU premiers. Congratulations again.

I would like to propose a toast with Japanese Sake again for another successful ten years of Scotland Loves Anime, and 2019 Oscar for Promare!

Thank you very much.
