2019 Saltire Scholarship accepts first Japanese student (19th November)


The 2019 Saltire Scholarship has accepted a Japanese student onto its programme for the first time. On the 19th of November, a welcome reception was held at Edinburgh’s Dynamic earth. Along with the other successful candidates, Japan’s first successful applicant, Ms Rei Onishi; Minister for Further Education, Higher Education & Science Mr Richard Lochhead and Consul General Takaoka attended the reception.
In cooperation with a University in Scotland and the Scottish Government, the scholarship provides funding for study in the fields of medical science and renewable energy.
