On 8th March, Nanairo Ekiden, a sports event featuring a relay race, was held at the University of Stirling. Transcending notions such as nationality, culture, age, and gender, the goal is to form one team and pass the baton until reaching the finish line.
This event was the first of its kind to be held in Europe with 85 participants, among whom there were also a number of students from Tsukuba University.
The relay race took place on the University’s athletics track and batons of seven different colours, which represented the values of “Excellence”, “Friendship”, “Respect”, “Determination”, “Courage”, “Equality”, and “Inspiration”, were passed on until the finish line.
There were also many cultural demonstrations, such as a Koto (Japanese zither) performance.
