The test match between the Japan National Rugby Team and the British and Irish Lions (June 25th)
2021/7/3

On June 25th, a test match between the Japan National Rugby Team and the British and Irish Lions was held at Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium. The British and Irish Lions are the strongest rugby team in the Northern Hemisphere, with players representing both the four countries of Great Britain - England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland – and the republic of Ireland sent abroad every four years. This time, due to the corona disaster, the match was held in the UK for the first time in 16 years, and the Japan National Team was selected as their opponent. Consul General Takaoka watched with the other attendees including World Rugby President Bill Beaumont and Scottish Government Minister for Public Health, Women's Health and Sport Marie Todd, and supported the Japan National Team. Although the result was a 10-28 victory for the British and Irish Lions, the second half had many highlights with the Japan National Team leading 10-7. The Japan National Rugby Team is scheduled to face the Scotland National Team at the same Murrayfield Stadium in November this year. |
