2022/8/27
| On Monday the 22nd of August, We opened the annual Japan Fringe reception, celebrating Japanese artists at the Edinburgh festival. Consul General Tadashi Fujiwara was praising the Japanese acts at this year’s festival, and was followed by Ms. Lyndsey Jackson, deputy Chief Executive of the Fringe Society. Welcoming the Japanese acts to the festival, she highlighted the important role of the society in championing the voices of diverse performers. Mr. Scott Wightman, Director for External Affairs for the Scottish government, led all in attendance in a toast to mark the start of the reception. The event began with a showcase of online acts that were not able to attend the festival. We hope that more performer will be able to make it in-person next year. This was followed by the performances of three Japanese acts, which included shadow puppetry by Mochinosha, improvised comedy by Jal Jal and stand-up comedy by Yuriko Kotani. Please support their shows if you have time! |
