2022/11/17

On Tuesday the 15th of November, Consul General Tadashi Fujiwara attended the opening event of Marubeni Europower’s Glasgow office. During the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26) held in Glasgow in 2021, the company had signed a memorandum of understanding with Scottish Enterprise on comprehensive cooperation for decarbonisation in Scotland. This included the expansion of offshore wind power and production, as well as the utilisation of green hydrogen. In January 2022, together with SSE Renewables Limited and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners P/S, Marubeni acquired an offshore lease interest to develop a floating wind farm with a maximum installed capacity of 2,600 MW to be built in Scotland.
In addition, the company is also involved in the production and utilization of green hydrogen in the region, as well as human resource development and information sharing, in order to help achieve the Scottish government's decarbonization goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 75% by 2030 and achieving net zero emissions by 2045.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Marubeni officials, and representatives from the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise, and Glasgow City Council, who welcomed Marubeni Europower's office to the city.
