Attendance at Shakuhachi concert by Kaoru Kakizakai (25th March 2023)

On Saturday the 25th of March, Deputy Consul General Ishii attended a shakuhachi concert by Mr. Kaoru Kakizakai. Recognised for his accomplishments on several occasions, Mr. Kakizakai has won the Japanese Hogaku Music Nationwide Contest in the shakuhachi division and has passed the 3rd Victor Audition for Japanese Music. Whilst currently lecturing at the Tokyo College of Music and working as an instructor at the NHK Culture Centre, Mr. Kakizakai is active in the promotion of shakuhachi overseas.
On the day of the concert, Mr. Kakizakai performed six solo pieces and two duo pieces with Mr. Markus Guhe, the organizer of the concert. Mr Guhe, who possesses a master’s license in shakuhachi, was a student of Mr. Kakizakai. With years of experience between them, the audience was captivated by their diverse tones and rich expressions.
