On Thursday, June 22nd, Consul General Fujiwara was invited to attend the "Pump It Up" event held in Livingstone. The event, co-hosted by the West Lothian Chamber of Commerce and Mitsubishi Electric Air Conditioning Systems Europe (M-ACE), featured local secondary school students designing and presenting innovative uses of heat source pumps.

This was the first in-person event since 2019. Following the opening remarks from President of M-ACE Mr. Nagano and Deputy Chief Executive of West Lothian Council Dr. Elaine Cook, 10 teams of students selected from 10 schools presented their ingenious ideas on how to utilise heat pump technology. After this, Consul General Mr. Fujiwara greeted the participants, and the award ceremony was held. The event ended with a speech by local MP for Livingston, Hannah Bardell.

Now in its sixth year thanks to the collaboration between West Lothian Chamber of Commerce and M-ACE, the aim of the initiative is to further integrate industry and schools with the aim of supporting young people in developing skills beneficial to their future development.
