On Tuesday 11 July, the 37th JET Programme pre-departure orientation and reception took place. The 56 JET participants, who are scheduled to head to Japan in August, attended an orientation that included presentations on the experiences of JET alumni, information for departure, English teaching methods, Japanese lessons, and a talk from Consul General Mr. Fujiwara.
Following the orientation session, a reception was held where words of encouragement for JET participants was shared by Mr. Ian Gow, President of the Japan Society of Scotland Association, Ms. Zeljka Letica, Chair of JETAA Scotland, Ms. Naomi Crosbie-Iwasaki, Chair of JETAA Northeast, and Mr. Akira Matsutani, Director of the London Office of the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations. |
JET stands for The Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme. The JET Programme was launched in 1987 and aims to promote internationalisation at a local level by inviting young people from abroad to live in Japan and engage in foreign language education and international exchange. |
