On Saturday, 12th of August, Deputy Consul General Ishii attended an event at the Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop (ESW) for the '2019-2022 Scotland Japan Exchange Residence Programme'. ESW hosts temporary exhibitions highlighting emerging international artists, and residency programmes accepting domestic and international artists (mainly working with sculpture). The "2019-2022 Scotland Japan Exchange Residence Programme" is an exchange programme between three Scottish residency organisations, including ESW, and Japanese residency organisations. During the event, a video of the work entitled “Tense” created by Scottish artist Adam Lewis Jacob during his residency in Japan as part of the exchange programme, featuring experimental snare drummer Ryosuke Kiyasu was shown. Ryosuke Kiyasu also performed live for a large audience, which had gathered at the ESW event space on that day. At the same time, there was an exhibition of the resident artist at ESW, Sebastian Thomas’s new sculpture entitled “A New Face In Hell”. The event was held as part of the Edinburgh Arts Festival from the 11th – 27th of August.
