On Tuesday, 8th of August, the Minister of the Environment Akihiro Nishimura visited “Celtic Renewables”, a start-up company originating from Edinburgh Napier University. The company is the world's first venture company to ferment the bi-products of whisky production (malt distillers, also called “draff”, and waste liquid), which is a major local industry, to produce acetone, bio-butanol and ethanol as a replacement for fossil fuels.

During the visit, Minister Nishimura exchanged views with President and founder of the company Professor Martin Tangney, and visited the laboratory.
