On Friday, September 8th, Consul General Tadashii Fujiwara attended the grand opening of Komatsu Forest UK’s new headquarters in Carlisle. The company, which sells forestry machinery in the UK, is a sales subsidiary of Komatsu Forest Machinery, a member of Komatsu Group which has over 60,000 employees worldwide and is headquartered in Tokyo. Komatsu invested £4 million in building its new, state-of-the-art Komatsu Forest headquarters on an 8,000 square-meter site near Carlisle Airport in order to support Cumbria’s local economy and secure employment in the area.

The grand opening was widely covered by both industry and local media, and was attended by the Mayor of Carlisle, Abdul Harid and his wife, Consul General Fujiwara, Cumberland council officials, and executives from “KF One”, Komatsu Forest’s production plant in Umeå, Sweden. At the beginning of the ceremony, Consul General Fujiwara and Mayor Harid cut the ribbon and unveiled a new, commemorative plaque before touring the factory with ceremony participants.
