On Saturday, 20th April, Deputy Consul General Ishii attended the entrance ceremony of the Scotland Japanese Saturday School. In her congratulatory speech to the 20 new students, including 6 nursery, 8 primary, and 6 junior high school students, Deputy Consul General Ishii said:

“You may not use Japanese much at the school you usually attend but, here at the Saturday school, rather than only studying from textbooks, please use as much Japanese as possible when talking with your teachers and friends.” She then cheered the students on further saying:

“When there is something you don’t understand, if you have a problem, or if it becomes difficult for you to come to school, please have the courage to consult your teachers, seniors and friends, and work together to create a brighter and more enjoyable school environment whilst practicing “Mochitsu Motaretsu” (supporting each other) every day.”
