Attendance at the innovation event "Pump It Up" (June 13th 2024)
2024/6/18

On Thursday June 13th, Consul General Fujiwara attended the “Pump It Up” event that was held in Livingston. The event was co-hosted by West Lothian Chamber of Commerce and Mitsubishi Electric Air Conditioning Systems Europe, who manufacture air conditioning and heating systems. High school students designed and presented innovative and practical uses for the company’s heat pumps. After opening statements from company president Hattori and West Lothian assistant Elaine Cook, nine teams from nine schools presented original ideas for creative ways to utilise pumps. Consul General Fujiwara then addressed everyone, and an awards ceremony was held for those who had participated in the presentations. The event ended with a speech from local election parliament member Hannah Bardell. West Lothian Chamber of Commerce believes that local students are apprehensive about studying science and hopes that with the cooperation of Mitsubishi Electric Air Conditioning Systems Europe, this event will help cultivate future engineers. This year was the 7th time the event has been held. |
