38th JET Programme Pre-Departure Orientation and Reception (3rd July 2024)

On Wednesday, July 3rd, the 38th JET Pre-Departure Orientation and Reception was held. There are 42 new JET members scheduled to travel to Japan in August and they received stories from previous JET participants of their experiences, important information and things to note about travel, methodology for teaching English, Japanese lessons, and a lecture from Consul General Fujiwara.

After that, a reception was held in which The Japan Society of Scotland, JET AA Scotland and JET AA Northeast each gave encouraging words to new JET participants, along with CLAIR London’s Vice President leading a toast.

JET is an acronym for The Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme. The JET Programme was founded in 1987 and invites young people from abroad to travel to Japan to participate in foreign language education and international exchange at a local level to promote internationalisation.
