Attendance at the SNP Conference Diplomatic Reception hosted by the Deputy First Minister (30th August 2024)

On 30th August, Consul General Tadashi Fujiwara attended a Reception for the Diplomatic Community hosted by Kate Forbes, Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Gaelic, held on the sidelines of the Scottish National Party (SNP) Conference. During her opening remarks, Deputy First Minister Forbes welcomed Sumitomo Electric's investment of 350 million pounds (about 70 billion yen) in the Highlands through the installation of a subsea cable factory at the Port of Nigg as a symbolic project.
During the event, Consul General Fujiwara spoke with a number of members of the Scottish Parliament about the relationship between Scotland and Japan, including First Minister John Swinney, Deputy First Minister Kate Forbes (the host of the reception), Mr Stephen Flynn, SNP Westminster Leader, and Mr Richard Lochhead, Minister for Business and Jim Fairlie, Minister for Agriculture and Connectivity.
