Holding of Japanese Film Festival at Edinburgh University (28th February & 21st March 2025)
2025/4/4

On 28th February and 21st March, the Japanese Film Festival was held at the University of Edinburgh. The event was jointly sponsored by the University of Edinburgh’s department of Japanese Studies and the Japan Foundation.
Each film screening was preceded by a lecture about Japanese culture related to the film, from a speaker with a Japanese related background and deep knowledge of the culture. These lectures were given by Ms Claire Demenez and Mr Arden Taylor, and were met with a very favourable response.
After the film screenings, a simple reception was held where guests had fun trying Japanese sake, sushi and snacks along with a lively exchange of opinions about the films. This year’s film screenings were a great success, with a total of 266 guests attending the two screenings.
The following two films were shown at the screenings.
Mori, The Artist’s Habitat(2018)
Mochi(2020)
