Courtesy call on Ms Alison Johnstone, Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament

On 8th May, Consul General Takeda Katsutoshi paid a courtesy call on the Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament, Ms Alison Johnstone MSP, to introduce himself as the new Consul General of Japan in Edinburgh.
During their meeting, the two exchanged views on a wide range of topics. Their discussion included the cooperation between Japan and Scotland in a wide range of fields such as; the economy, issues surrounding the declining birthrate and aging population, and the supporting of women's participation in society. They also discussed parliamentary exchanges and the topic of Scotland's national poet, Robert Burns.
