Attendance at the 2025 Edinburgh International Book Festival Launch Event

On 10 June, Cultural Consul Masataka Abe attended the launch event of the 2025 Edinburgh International Book Festival.
The Edinburgh International Book Festival is a festival of written culture held at the same time as the Edinburgh International Festival, one of the world's largest arts festivals. The International Book Festival has been held every August since 1983 with this year’s overall theme being “Repair”. From August 9th – 24th, writers, thinkers and other participants will join together in over 600 different events aimed at people of all ages, from adults to children.
Plans are also underway for a workshop on "kintsugi," a traditional Japanese technique for repairing ceramics, as well as a talk featuring Yuzuki Asako, author of "Butter" which won three British literary awards, as a guest speaker. In addition to disseminating information about Japanese literature, traditional culture, and thought, it is expected that the event will also promote diverse exchanges amongst participants.
