On 12 June, Consul General Katsutoshi Takeda visited the Scottish Opera Production Studios in Glasgow.
The visit was held at the invitation of Scottish Opera General Director Alex Reedijk, ahead of the opening of Scottish Opera's new opera “The Great Wave”, based on the life of Katsushika Hokusai, the famous Japanese ukiyo-e artist of the Edo period, scheduled for February next year.
During the visit, Consul-General Takeda was guided by General Director Reedijk, who is also the Honorary Consul of New Zealand to Scotland, and Marketing Director of Scottish Opera Caroline Dooley. The group toured the facilities such as the set design and costume making sites, music practice rooms, and rehearsal venues, whilst learning about the production process and the company’s outreach activities known as pop-up opera.
