Courtesy call on the Lord Provost of Glasgow, Jacqueline McLaren

On Friday 1st August, Consul General Katsutoshi Takeda visited Glasgow and paid a courtesy call on Lord Provost of Glasgow, Dr Cllr Jacqueline McLaren.
 
During their meeting, the two sides exchanged views on a wide range of topics, including the long-standing historical relationship between Glasgow and Japan, the recent activities of Japanese companies based in the city, the new opera "The Great Wave" based on Katsushika Hokusai which is scheduled to have its world premiere in Glasgow in February next year, and plans to launch a Glasgow’s Peace Garden to commemorate the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. They agreed to continue working together to further deepen the relationship between Glasgow and Japan.
 
Following the courtesy call, Consul General Takeda was given a tour of the city hall, a renowned Renaissance-style majestic building.
