On Saturday 18th October, Cultural Consul Masataka Abe attended the "Teikyo Festival 2025" held at Teikyo University's Durham Campus. Once a year, the campus opens it’s doors to the public so that they can experience the cultural festival.

There were various Japanese cultural experiences offered for attendees to try during the festival. These included tea ceremony, calligraphy, kendo, Iaido demonstration, trying on yukata, games using chopsticks, and making bookmarks designed with kanji characters. Additionally, the outdoor, student-run yakisoba stall drew long lines and was very popular.

During the event, the campus was bustling with attendees. It was a day which perfectly symbolised the cultural exchange taking place between Durham and Japan where all participants could experience various aspects of Japanese culture.
