On Friday 31st October, Consul General Katsutoshi Takeda paid a visit to the Riverside Campus of City of Glasgow College.

City of Glasgow College is Scotland’s biggest specialist higher education college, and this year marks its 15th anniversary, after being established in 2010 through the merging of 3 other colleges: Central College, Glasgow Metropolitan College, and Glasgow College of Nautical Studies. Over 40,000 students from over 140 countries around the world receive practical education over 2 campuses with cutting edge equipment to lead into further education and reskilling.

On the day, Consul General Takeda met with Paul Little, Principal & CEO, Carla Gethin, Vice-Principal Corporate Development and Innovation and Chris Keenan, Dean of Faculty of Nautical & STEM, at the Riverside Campus near River Clyde, which offers courses specialising in maritime and navigation, and exchanged opinions on future collaboration with Japan in relation to maritime education. After that, the Consul General visited training facilities where students can gain maritime experience and a state of the art 360° navigation simulator that recreates the environment onboard a ship.
