Attendance at the Scottish Parliament’s Burns Supper hosted by The Rt. Hon Presiding Officer

On Wednesday 21st January, Consul General Katsutoshi Takeda attended the Burns Supper hosted by The Rt. Hon Alison Johnstone MSP, Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament. Burns Supper celebrates the life and poetry of Scotland’s national poet Robert Burns (25th January 1795) and falls on his birthday. Burns’ most famous poem “Auld Lang Syne” is known as “Hotaru no Hikari”or “Glow of a Firefly” in Japan.
On the day, in addition to The Rt. Hon Alison Johnstone MSP, there were 29 other MSPs from various parties and the staff of Scottish Parliament Secretariat in attendance with whom 31 Consular Corps members were able to strengthen their connections. Afterwards, Consul General Takeda also participated in reciting “Tam O’ Shanter”, Burns’ masterpiece.
