On Thursday 22nd January, Consul General Katsutoshi Takeda attended the Burns Supper hosted by the City of Glasgow College. Burns Supper celebrates the life and poetry of Scotland’s national poet Robert Burns (25th January 1795) and falls on his birthday. Burns’ most famous poems “Auld Lang Syne” is known as “Hotaru no Hikari” in Japan.

On the day, several traditions were carried out. Haggis was served alongside a bagpipe performance by students studying at Scotland’s biggest college, there was a recital of Burns’ “Address to the Haggis”, a toast was raised, and guests were able to deepen their interaction with each other, including Principal Paul Little.
