Attendance at a talk given by Junpei Kiz, Scenographer of the new Opera ”The Great Wave”
2026/1/28
On Wednesday 28th January, Cultural Consul Masataka Abe attended a talk given by Scenographer Junpei Kiz for the new opera “The Great Wave” held at the headquarters of Scottish Opera.
Under the moderation of Niall Black, Head of Production at Scottish Opera, a lecture titled “Landscape THEATRE” by Kiz, based on his past practices, was delivered to the attendees who were mainly students studying at the Glasgow School of Art. The lecture was followed by a lively Q&A session with the audience, centred around the question, “What is Theatre?” The concept of “Site specific theatre”, despite not yet being widely recognised in Japan, has already been practiced in Scotland which gave a valuable opportunity to promote new cultural exchanges in an advanced region.
We are planning a similar talk and panel discussion in Edinburgh on the morning of Wednesday 11th February, to be held as a hybrid event with online participation. Please check our social media for details.
