2026/1/28
On Friday 30th January, “Neko Ninja (2017)” was screened at the University of Stirling as part of the Consulate’s Japanese Film Festival 2026. This year is the second time a film festival has been held at Stirling.
On the day, Prof. Alistair Jump, Deputy Principal (Research) and Executive Dean, Faculty of Natural Sciences gave a welcome speech and spoke about the university’s research into dementia-friendly design which is being carried out in cooperation with Japan, as well as a collaboration into dementia research with Nagasaki University. An exhibition was also held last year at the university in collaboration with The Nagasaki National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims. After that, Consul General Katsutoshi Takeda gave a welcome speech and expressed his hope for promoting friendship and cultural exchange through Japanese films.
Subsequently and prior to the screening, Japanese language tutor Noriko Ishikawa-Tabner gave a lecture about “Japanese idioms referring to cats”. The Stirling event was well attended this year, and the screening was a great success.
