Holding of Japanese Film Festival 2026 at the University of Edinburgh

On Friday 6th February, the annual Japanese Film Festival was held in Edinburgh, co-hosted by the Consulate General of Japan in Edinburgh, the University of Edinburgh, and the Japan Foundation.
On the day, Consul General Katsutoshi Takeda gave a welcome speech and talked about his hopes for promoting cultural exchange and friendship through Japanese films.
Subsequently and prior to the screening of “Between Us (2021)”, Claire Demenez, PhD student at the University of East Anglia gave a lecture about wadaiko , Japanese school life and activities as a background to the film’s story.
Many people attended, and due to the film being based on a manga, some people brought their children along to watch as well.
