Holding of shakuhachi concert in collaboration with the Scotland Japanese School

On Saturday 21st February, in collaboration with the Scotland Japanese School, the Consulate held a shakuhachi concert by Shozan Hasegawa, the shakuhachi player in the new opera “The Great Wave”.
During the concert, an explanation was given about the instrument, and four musical pieces were performed. During the explanation, a quiz was held on how to express animal sounds using different shakuhachi performance techniques., The children thoroughly enjoyed participating in the quiz and after, many raised their hands to ask questions, resulting in a lively Q&A session.
It was a valuable chance for children to experience the shakuhachi.
