On Thursday 26th February, Consul General Katsutoshi Takeda paid a courtesy call on Cllr Robbie Rodiss, Chair of Durham County Council and Cllr Gary Hutchinson, Mayor of Durham at Durham County Hall.

On the day, they exchanged views on the connection with Japan, in particular the technological ties such as railways that have contributed to Japan's modernisation, as well as the recent activities of Japanese companies based in North East England and Durham, and agreed to continue to work closely together.

Furthermore, the current Durham County Hall will soon move into a new building, as the current one is scheduled to be demolished soon, so it was a valuable opportunity to see the interior of the building, which symbolises the history of the area.
