Visit to Optos plc

On Thursday 19th March, Consul General Katsutoshi Takeda visited medical equipment manufacturer Optos plc in Dunfermline, alongside Mr Richard Lochhead MSP, Minister for Business and Employment.
Optos plc is a Scottish company founded in 1992, with its headquarters and manufacturing base in Dunfermline. It is a world leading company in ophthalmic image diagnostics equipment, including ultra-wide angle retinal imaging (optomap). In 2015, they became part of Nikon and have maintained a close relationship with Japan through technological collaboration.
On the day, Consul General Takeda and Lochhead MSP received explanations of the business, research and development, and contributions to local employment. They also exchanged opinions about a variety of topics, including strengthening Japan and Scotland’s connection through the fields of life science and medical equipment.
