On Tuesday 14th April, Consul General Katsutoshi Takeda visited the Mitsubishi Electric Air Conditioning Systems Europe Ltd. (M-ACE) factory in Livingston.

Marking 30 years of operation in 2023, this facility is the company’s core European base. Its expansive 10-hectare site houses five production wings dedicated to supplying air conditioning and sustainable heat pump technology throughout Europe. The 2024 launch of the Heat Pump Installation Training Centre further underscores its commitment to carbon neutrality through professional education.
The factory remains a vital economic pillar, employing around 1,100 people as of April 2026. As West Lothian’s leading private employer, it plays a symbolic role in driving the "Green Recovery" and strengthening local supply chains, transcending its role as a traditional manufacturing site.

On the day of the visit, after receiving a briefing from Mr Taro Hattori, M-ACE President, Consul General Takeda toured the production site, which features a high-value manufacturing process driven by the sophisticated integration of cutting-edge automation and expert expertise.
