Attendance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2026 Launch Event
2026/6/4
On Thursday 4th June, Cultural Consul Masataka Abe attended the launch event of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2026.
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is one of the world's largest performing arts festivals, which has been held for approximately three weeks every August since 1947. This year the Festival will be held from August 7th to 31st. It will be made up of 3,649 shows held in 259 venues across Edinburgh. The shows cover a variety of genres, including theatre, dance, music and comedy, and feature 53,873 performances from 71 countries.
At present, 15 groups or performers from Japan are scheduled to participate and will perform 20 shows during the festival. We hope that their participation will not only promote Japanese traditional culture and performing arts, but also further promote international exchanges in these areas.
