On Monday 24th August, Consul General Katsutoshi Takeda attended a reception for the consular corps held at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. Co-hosted by the Edinburgh Art Festival and the Scottish Government, the event provided an opportunity for him to exchange views with government officials, representatives from the art festival and members of the consular corps from various countries.

The Edinburgh Art Festival is the UK’s largest annual visual arts festival, held in Edinburgh every August; it attracts numerous artists, galleries, cultural professionals and visitors from both within the UK and abroad.

At the event, Stephen Gethins MSP, Minister for Europe, External Affairs and Energy, spoke about Scotland’s engagement with the international community and the importance of international connections forged through culture and art. Following this, Kim McAleese, Director of the Edinburgh Art Festival, spoke about the festival's initiatives and the significance of connecting domestic and international artists with Edinburgh as a base.

We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the Scottish Government, relevant organizations, the consular corps and figures in the arts and culture sectors. We also hope to foster further exchange with Japan through the various festivals and cultural and artistic activities held in the region, including the Edinburgh Art Festival.
