Surrealism and Cubomania – Talk on Gherasim Luca by Prof. Masao Suzuki (10th March)

On 10th March, Consul General Takaoka attended a one-day conference on Surrealism at Alliance Française de Glasgow as part of the Japan-UK Season of Culture.
Following the Consul General’s opening address, Professor Masao Suzuki, from Waseda University, gave a thought-provoking talk on Gherasim Luca, a Romanian surrealist theorist and poet, in which he highlighted the main tenets of the artist’s thought and technique.
Dr. Greg Kerr of the University of Glasgow made his commentary on Luca’s famous works. It is expected that this conference should serve as an indication of the growing exchange between Waseda University and the University of Glasgow.
